OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, recently praised Bitcoin as a logical step forward in technology due to its independence from governmental control, which makes it a powerful tool against corruption. Altman discussed the potential of Bitcoin as a global reserve currency and expressed concerns about Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). He believes that transitioning to a “tech-powered world” with Bitcoin as the core could help curb corruption. On the other hand, Joe Rogan, while optimistic about Bitcoin, remains skeptical about the broader cryptocurrency landscape. He sees Bitcoin as the frontrunner with the potential to become a universally accepted currency. Altman has been a longstanding supporter of Bitcoin, advocating for its transparency and potential to combat corruption in a blog post a decade ago. Both Rogan and Altman expressed reservations about CBDCs, fearing the rise of a surveillance state and the US government’s approach to the crypto industry, which they perceive as an attempt to exert control.
